1. Mercedes-Benz tests ChatGPT in cars to answer βcomplex questionsβ while on the road
Mercedes-Benz is beta-testing OpenAIβs ChatGPT as a voice assistant in over 900,000 US vehicles equipped with its MBUX infotainment system. From June 16, drivers can opt-in to this program via voice command, enabling a more natural dialogue format for interactions, without requiring specific phrases to activate certain functions.
2. New Google Shopping feature uses AI to model clothing on different body types
The virtual try-on experience, starting initially with womenβs tops from select brands, uses a diffusion-based generative AI model to demonstrate how an item of clothing will look on different body types, ranging in size from XXS to 4XL. The AI is used to create realistic clothing draping, wrinkles, and folds on images of human models.

The European Parliament has advanced negotiations for the AI Act, aiming to create a pan-EU rulebook for artificial intelligence. The proposed legislatio includes a ban on remote biometric surveillance, predictive policing, and untargeted scraping of facial images, while expanding the classification of high-risk AI systems.
